Falconhurst May 2015
We drew. It was a lovely day and a really good game of cricket. They batted first on a damp pitch and we put in a really good effort in the field, chipping away at the wickets and not giving away many cheap runs. The top wicket taker was Marcus Haywood who picked up 4, though pretty much everyone bowled well. They ended up with 185. In response, we made 174 for 8 (effectively for 9 as we only had 10 players). It was an exciting finish (all 3 results were possible going into the last over) and a fairly typical Refreshers’ batting effort: some very nice stroke-play (especially from Leo Buscombe who made 71), some comical dismissals, and yours truly then blocking out the last 5 balls to secure a draw.
