Tilford 21st June
The oldest fixture in our calendar, dating back to the 1930’s, was tied in somewhat controversial circumstances this year. Needing 2 to win from the last ball, the Refreshers could only manage one leg bye – which would not have been enough without a timely shout of ‘no-ball’ from our very own Hon Treasurer, who happened to be standing as umpire at the relevant end. A fuller report, for inclusion in the forthcoming anthology of Refreshers cricket (provisionally entitled ‘Court and Bowled’), will appear in due course.
